As we prepare for the 2018-2019 school year, we are currently making changes to the DCSS Title I LEA Policy. We would like your feedback on the document.

We would like to announce our annual St. Patrick’s Day dance! It will be from 3:00-5:00pm on Friday, March 16th. Tickets will be on sale March 12th-16th. They will only be sold before school outside the Kindergarten classrooms. All proceeds go to Relay for Life and to purchase instructional materials.  Please send in exact change or checks made out to Bright Star Elementary. 


On Tuesday, March 6th, we will begin the Bright Star MyOn MarchMadness competition. All students are invited to join the MyOnMarch Madness Reading Challenge. All your child has to do issimply log on to his or her MyOn account and read as many bookspossible.

Each Friday, the names will be announced and the students willreceive a special treat from Ms. Stewart.

The competition begins on Tuesday, March 6th and will end ofThursday, March 29th.

The top 15 readers will be invited to a Special gathering on Friday,March 30th.

The class with the most points will be named the Bright Star MyOnChampions and will receive a Pizza Party.

2018 Black History Talent Showcase

Be bold. Be heard. Be your favorite person in Black History!

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Come prepared to audition in costume with any music,instruments, and props needed. All students are invited to auditionto be a part of this monumental event!

You are welcome to sing, dance, play an instrument, recite aspeech or poetry, or perform a dramatic monologue portraying animportant person in Black History.

The event will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at 6:00pm
1st Place-$25 Walmart gift card
2nd Place-$15 I-Tunes gift card
3rd Place-$15 Books-A-Million gift card


Each year, the Douglas County School System solicits parent feedback about the Title I programs that are offered for parent participation, school-home communication, and ways that we can help your child at school. As we prepare for the the distribution of the annual survey, we would like to get your input on the draft version.

The Georgia Parent Survey is modeled after the student survey.You are able to complete the survey using their personalcomputers, smartphones or iPads. All parents are encouraged toparticipate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will beused to calculate the School Climate Star Rating.

Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly tothe Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Data resultsfrom the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the publicand will not be posted online. The URL address for the GeorgiaParent Survey is posted below.
